The Smoothie Diet
The concept: Use smoothies to replace meals. This lets you lose weight rapidly. The Look Beautiful team swears by their regular smoothie days. They stimulate the metabolism, remove toxins from the body and tackle tummy bloat. If you combine green smoothies with fruit, however, the fructose prevents rapid fat burning.
Buy fresh, local vegetables and use them up quickly. Storing them too long means they’ll lose some of their vitamins.
Please note! Only plan one day a week for the smoothie diet, or do 5 days in a row as a detox, but only every three months at the most. Also, make sure you get enough protein and exercise. When you are in calorie deficit, the body can start to break down muscle tissue.
Important! On each smoothie day, drink half a litre of water with the juice of one lemon first thing!
1. Breakfast Smoothie
- 5 almonds
- 1 red apple
- 1 banana
- 3/4 tub of low-fat greek yoghurt
- 172 cup of fat-free milk
- 1 pinch of cinnamon
Blend the ingredients together in your smoothie maker and enjoy a 400-calorie drink.
2. Clean Smoothie
- 1 avocado
- 1 pear
- juice of one lime
- 2cm piece of ginger
- 250ml of coconut water
If you replace lunch with this smoothie once a week, you’ll stop snacking in the afternoon. This drink gives you plenty of energy and will keep you full until the evening.
3. Smoothie for More Energy
- 2 bananas
- 1 1/2 cups of spinach
- 1/2 apple
- 1/2 cup of almond milk
- 1 tablespoon of flaxseed/chia seed
- 7 large strawberries
Peel the bananas and chop into chunks, then freeze for a couple of hours. If you don’t have frozen banana, you can also just add ice to your smoothie. Blend all of your ingredients together in your smoothie maker until they reach a creamy consistency.
The result! Extra weight will just drop off!
