Beauty ABC: Camomile

Camomile can alleviate a wide range of problems, from sore throat,  colds, acne, rashes, inflamed gums, stomach ache, bloating to wind. Its essential oils, extracted by steam distillation, have the greatest effect. The substances they contain, including bisabolol, bisaboloxide, chamazulene are thought to have various effects: they relax the muscles in the stomach and intestinal tract, calm the nerves and help ease inflammations more quickly.

If you want to enjoy the healing effects of the aroma, you can make a tea from camomile blossom, which helps ease stomach and intestinal problems. Or integrate the tea into your evening ritual to encourage good sleep.

The dried blossom is also suitable for external use. A facial steam bath clarifies the skin, added to your bath it reduces anal or genital inflammation and compresses of camomile encourage wound healing in skin disorders. Doctors advise against using compresses with camomile essence or teabags if you have sore eyes as they can irritate eyes further.
