Exercises for beautiful legs

As well as the right care, exercise is also essential for making your legs look toned. We’ve got the best tips and exercises to make your leg training as effective as possible.  

 

Knee bends

Knee bends are a classic leg exercise. It’s one of the most effective exercises for leg muscles and it can be varied to give your leg muscles different challenges. To minimise the risk of injury, it’s really important to do it correctly.  Your knees and toes should be turned outwards slightly and when you bend, your knees shouldn’t go past your toes, otherwise it puts too much pressure on your joints. To make your workout particularly effective, you should bend as deep as possible. 
Variations: Increase the intensity of this exercise with, for example, dumbbells or a TheraBand to put more strain on your muscles. You could also do the knee bends one leg at a time. So you can integrate a balance element into the leg exercise as well as strengthening your muscles. To train your calves you can do the knee bends on tip toes. Ensure an optimal workout for your legs by switching between different versions of the exercise.

 

Lunges

Lunges are a well-known and very effective exercise that help you achieve toned, beautiful legs. Stand with your legs hip width apart. Lunge forward on one leg. Bend your knee and lower your back leg to the floor.  Then stand up again and change legs. It’s important that when you bend your knee it isn’t in front of your toes.
Variations: You can do this exercise with a couple of dumbbells. This increases the intensity of the exercise. You can also lunge backwards rather than forwards. This reduces the strain on your knee joints.

 

Scissors

The scissors is a good exercise for your whole lower body. To do it properly you only need a mat and a little floor space. Lie down with your back on the mat. Raise both legs and stretch them straight up. Now move your legs like scissors, alternately up and down. Repeat it as many times as possible without lowering your legs to the floor. This exercise strengthens the long muscle fibres and gives your legs a slim appearance.
Variations: If the exercise is too difficult at first, you can put your stretched out leg on the ground and move one leg after the other. To make the exercise more intensive, tense your stomach and buttock muscles.
