Fight dry skin effectively!

Causes

The first cause of dry skin is loss of moisture through the skin caused by disruption of the skin’s permeability.  This is compounded by the effect of hard and hot water, washing with soap (containing sodium laureth sulfate), environmental pollution and the effects of central heating or air conditioning.
The second cause of dry skin is a reduction in NMF. NMF has a multi-part low-molecular structure which attracts water. NMF factor is different in everyone and is determined by the moisture level of the skin. The composition of this unique substance can change according to the season.
Another cause of dry skin is a deficiency in aquaporins. This factor is dependent on your genes. Aquaporins or ‘water channels’ are the integral membrane protein substances that form the pores in the cell membranes. They selectively penetrate water molecules, enabling them to penetrate the cells and to leave them again.  People with dry skin generally have only 45% of the target amount of aquaporins.
Today’s modern care products are able to counteract nature and override the genetic deficit of NMF and aquaporins.
Dry skin can be caused by disruption of the secretion of epidermal lipids (ceramides, cholesterol, fatty acids). Epidermal lipids contain about 50% ceramides, 15% fatty acids and about 25% cholesterol. Lipids form a protective layer around the keratinocytes (cells that form the skin) and support the connections between cells, forming a sealed skin barrier. This can prevent the loss of moisture through the skin.

Solution

How can the skin be supplied with moisture again? First the skin’s permeability must be reduced and the evaporation of water from the corneal layer of the epidermis must be blocked. Various natural oils (sunflower seed oil, olive oil, jojoba oil, coconut oil) contain lots of fatty acids that protect the skin barrier. This means that they reduce loss of moisture through the skin.
Moisturising substances, such as glycerin and hyaluronic acid can increase the moisture of skin. They have a property that enables them to draw moisture from the atmosphere and directly into the skin.
It is important to understand that your diet and lifestyle also have a great impact on the state of your skin. It’s proven that stress is detrimental to the body and particularly the skin. If the barrier function of the skin is impaired, the skin becomes dry.
