Your perfect DETOX DAY

Can you eat tasty food on detox days? Does detoxing work without sacrifices?  We say yes!
On a detox or fast day you cut out foods such as meat or dairy products. Detox days regulate the metabolism and  help you lose a few stubborn kilos.  When detoxing, you cut out ‘acid’ foods -  foods that acidify the body - which detoxifies it and restores the acid-alkaline balance.

 

BREAKFAST
Oat pancakes with stewed apple 

Ingredients for 1 serving:

  • 1 egg
  • 20g rolled oats
  • 20g wholemeal flour (eg. spelt)
  • 2 tbsp almond milk
  • 1 pinch of salt and cinnamon
  • 1 pinch baking powder
  • 1 tsp coconut oil
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 100g apple puree (sugar free)

Preparation:

Mix together the egg and almond milk. Stir in the flour, oats, salt, cinnamon and baking powder. Brush a non-stick frying pan with oil. Put three spoonfuls of pancake mix into the pan. Cook them on medium heat, turning when browned on one side. Serve with honey and stewed apple.

 

LUNCH
Salad wraps with almond butter

Ingredients for 1 serving:

  • 4 lettuce leaves
  • 100g pepper
  • 100g carrots
  • 100g cucumber
  • 1 handful of cress or other shoots
  • 40g almond butter
  • 1 untreated lemon
  • salt and pepper.

Preparation:

Grate the lemon peel and squeeze the juice. Mix the almond butter with some lemon juice and the peel until it is a spreadable consistency. Season with salt and pepper. Cut the pepper, carrots and cucumber into fine strips. Spread the almond paste onto the lettuce leaves, put the vegetables and cress on top, roll up and serve with more of the almond mixture.

 

DINNER
Fish with root vegetables

Ingredients for 1 serving:

  • 150g fish fillet
  • herbs
  • 1 tsp coconut oil
  • lemon
  • 250g root vegetables (eg. carrots, turnip or beetroot). 

Preparation:

Peel and halve the root vegetables or cut them into strips. Steam them. Fry the fish in coconut oil, browning  both sides. Season and squeeze some lemon juice on the fish. Serve on the steamed vegetables.
