Making your own cosmetics is a really fun thing to do. If you give away the results, you can give others pleasure too!
1. Masks for oily or mixed skin
Ingredients (for one application)
- 1 tbsp hazelnut oil
- 1 tbsp jojoba oil
- 1 tbsp green clay
- ½ packet organic yeast
- 3 drops of essential immortelle oil
- 2 drops essential petit-grain oil
Preparation:
Mix together all the ingredients. It should become a spreadable mixture which is easy to apply to the face.
Use:
After about 30 minutes, wash it off with lots of warm water and let your skin breathe.
Tip:
Sterilise pots and lids (in boiling water for 10 minutes), fill with the mixture and let cool. Use it soon!
2. Body butter for sensitive skin
Ingredients:
- 25g shea butter
- 25g coconut oil
- 30g calendula oil
- 20g camomile oil
Preparation:
Warm the butter and whisk it. Gradually stir in the oil. It will form a soft, airy butter that is easy to apply.
Use:
The butter is great for sensitive skin, particularly for use in cold weather or overnight.
3. Olive oil soap for dry skin
Ingredients:
- 100g olive oil
- 350g distilled water
- 140g NaOH (sodium hydroxide)
- essential oils of your choice eg. 10g ylang ylang or patchouli oil
Preparation:
Heat the olive oil, water and NaOH to about 100 degrees, stirring constantly with a hand blender. After 30 minutes the mixture should be creamy.
Pour it into a container.
You can use the soap after 48 hours, although it will not yet be totally set. If you keep it for at least 6 months in a cool place, the soap will be firm and make lots of lather.
