The story of Roger & Gallet begins in Italy in 1693 with a young Italian named Giovanni Paolo Feminis. He invented a miracle water, Acqua Mirabilis, a remedy made from 18 medicinal plants cultivated in a monastery garden in Florence, the garden of simple people. This healing water was believed to cure many ailments, either through rubbing or cleaning. The regenerating Neroli, refreshing Lavender, anti-inflammatory Lemongrass, and antiseptic Thyme – this miracle recipe crossed centuries and borders until it reached Cologne, where a certain Jean Marie Joseph Farina inherited and patented it: Eau de Cologne was born.
